I have been a runner for most of my life, however, these runs never consisted of more than 3-6 miles on any given day. A goal for me became running a marathon before I reached the age of 30 -- I decided that 1998 was the year for me. The result of having Art Liberman as my coach allowed me at the age 27 to run the Marine Corps Marathon in 3 hours and 48 minutes. I could have not reached this accomplishment without Art's guidance, his weekly training schedule tailor-made for me, and of course his unwavering support.
As I remember, pre-marathon training last summer, I was filled with doubts, overflowing with questions, and come to think of it, really had no idea what training for a marathon actually entailed. I was unsure if I was physically up to the task. I had read about Art Liberman over the Internet and was impressed with his web site and training tips. So I solicited his services in August of this past year - next thing I knew I had myself a coach and training hath begun. Art's training schedule worked to a tee for me. I soon learned that lots of sleep combined with sensible nutrition, and the training runs, equaled a formula for great success. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget and I am all ready looking toward my next marathon in the near future. I am grateful to Art's training which delivered me to the finish line of the Marine Corps Marathon. All my thanks to him for being such a vital part of one of the defining moments of my life. |
